I get it. I kind of just "popped up" out of no where and proclaimed myself to be your communications guru. But who am I? What makes me an expert? Here's a little background info that can help you see how I received some of my training.
I received my Bachelor's of Arts in Communication from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2010. There I learned everything from press releases to social media management. I was the Public Relations Chair of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and wrote as a Reporter for the student newspaper, "The Echo". My senior year, I was awarded the opportunity to lead a public relations campaign for a real client as the Team Lead. I also created several communications campaigns for local nonprofits. As an intern for the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, I wrote press releases for local businesses and by-line articles for Trend Magazine.
After moving back to Memphis in 2010, I spent a lot of time working with small clients to gather more advanced skills in communication. I also received my Master's Degree in Public Administration in 2014.
During this time I helped several clients create successful communication and fundraising campaigns.
I started working as an Alumni Relations Specialist for a local nonprofit in early 2014. In my current role, I not only created a strategic plan for communications and engagement to engage the organization's 11,000 alumni but I also implemented the plan. I am responsible for managing the alumni social media sites and creating continuous content for alumni communications. I created and designed the alumni website within the organization's website. In 2014, I launched an email campaign to create intentional alumni communication that is mutually beneficial for the alumni as well as the organization.
Aside from my current role, I am also the Social Media chair for the United Way of the Mid-South Emerging Leaders Advisory Committee and recently got certified in Salesforce Marketing Cloud as an Email Specialist. I'm currently working on certifications in Salesforce Marketing Cloud's Social Studio as well as Hootsuite's Social Media marketing certification. (Pheww---that's a lot)
More importantly than anything, I started Social Square earlier this year as a tool that small businesses could use to create digital communications content that is meaningful and strategic to both the business and their customers! I've ventured off into social media management for events and weddings as well which is a new niche concept in Memphis.
I said all of this to say, I'm not just giving you advice that hasn't been proven or thought through strategically. I strive to make all of my clients feel s though they have the tools they need to run successful communication's campaigns for their businesses.
Shoot me an email and ask me what can I do to help your business grow.
